Nova uses SABIC. technical grade urea raw materials (pharmaceutical grade process) to produce high-quality catalyst reducing agent AdBlue®

Nova uses SABIC. (technical grade) urea raw material to produce high-quality catalyst reducing agent AdBlue®

Generally speaking, there are two methods for manufacturing catalytic reducing agent (AdBlue®): one is directly synthesized in a urea factory by adding deionized water (67.5%) to the melt type (Melt type); the other is made by dissolving urea particles, stirring and filtering. The first method is obviously purer, but because it is far away from the client and takes a long time to transport the finished product, it is less competitive; the second method is convenient and easy to use, but the quality of the urea granules is a key factor. However, most manufacturers of catalytic reducing agent (AdBlue®) are faced with the continued decline in terminal selling prices, which is squeezing the profit margins of manufacturers. Most of them prefer to choose cheaper industrial-grade urea granular raw materials, or even agricultural-grade urea production. There is a risk that the products will not meet the ISO22241 standard specifications, making SCR vehicle system failures common.
95% of the world's urea factories produce agricultural-grade and industrial-grade urea granules. The production process of automotive-grade urea or technical-grade urea TGU (Technical Grade Urea) is high, and few are actually involved in production. Among them, SABIC Group (Saudi Basic Industries) Corporation) is the main supplier of urea raw materials in the Middle East and the second largest chemical supplier in the world, with annual revenue of US$60 billion and an annual urea supply of 4.5 million metric tons. It has a certain influence on the world's urea supply. Al-Jubail Fertilizer Company, a subsidiary of the SABIC Group, is a 50% joint venture with Taiwan Fertilizer. It is optimistic about the market for technical-grade urea granules. Starting from 2010, it invested US$50 million in nearly five years to build a production line specifically for the production of technical-grade urea raw materials (SABIC calls TGU) for vehicles. Mass production began last year, with an annual output of 80,000 MT.

Pharmaceutical grade manufacturing process-Technical grade urea raw material
The biggest feature of the Jubair plant's technical-grade urea granule production line is that the molten material drops in the form of metered droplets on the continuously running conveyor belt. When the droplets operate with the production line, the molten material will release heat and be converted into uniform urea granules through cooling water. With this granulation technology, the cooling water and the molten material will not come into contact with each other, so there is no risk of cross-contamination. In this way, high-clean technical-grade urea granules can be produced, which is ranked first in the industry.

Marketing overseas and expanding business territory
Novavax is the main manufacturing supplier of media reducing agent (AdBlue®) in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region, so SABIC. Group is actively seeking support from Novavax. In May this year, I specially met with Chairman Yang Lianzhi from Saudi Arabia. Because Nova has long been focused on and rooted in the catalytic reducing agent (AdBlue®) industry, in addition to using technical grade urea (TGU) in its own factory, and because Nova has professional capabilities in international logistics and is committed to promoting the green channel plan, I believe it will provide a good choice for international buyers.
