Nova enters the ranks of "low-temperature thermal cracking" plastic reduction to solve the problem of thermosetting plastic recycling

As the amount of plastic waste around the world continues to increase, humans are facing increasingly serious environmental challenges. According to predictions, by 2060, the world will generate up to 1 billion tons of plastic waste, of which less than 10% of discarded plastics will be effectively recycled and reused. In view of this, the United Nations Environment Assembly launched the formulation of the Global Plastics Treaty in March 2022, aiming to take legally binding global action on plastic pollution. This is the most important international environmental treaty since the Paris Agreement.
So far, the United Nations Environment Assembly has announced the "Zero Draft" of the Global Plastics Pact and set 2040 as the final target year. The fifth round of negotiations is expected to be held in Busan, South Korea, at the end of the year to reach a more specific agreement.
However, among all plastic waste, only thermoplastic plastics can be recycled and reused, while thermosetting plastics (such as insulated switchgear, relays, FRP fiberglass bathtubs, wind turbine blades, etc.) cannot be effectively recycled and can only be crushed and buried. This has long been a thorny problem.
In order to solve this dilemma, Nova Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has entered the field of processing thermosetting plastics and recently held the "Catalyst Low-temperature Thermal Cracking Ceremony" to announce the research and development results of this breakthrough technology. At the launch ceremony, Nova Materials Chairman Yang Lianzhi joined forces with Li Qinglong, deputy general manager of Lummax Technology Co., Ltd., Chen Huangchuan, CEO of Remax Australia, Chen Shengguang and Cai Fengsheng, directors of Sunshine Battery Co., Ltd., and Jian Liangrong, a professor at the Green Energy Battery Research Center of Mingzhi University of Science and Technology, and other experts to discuss the new technology for about two hours.
This innovative technology will use low-temperature thermal cracking to reduce energy consumption, comply with the spirit of ESG, and restore thermosetting plastics back to cracked oil to further solve the environmental problems caused by plastic waste.
