The annual World Earth Day is approaching. In the face of extreme climate effects, which have had a drastic impact on the global environment, especially children living in vulnerable areas, the impact is much greater than other age groups. On 4/19, World Vision Taiwan invited extreme marathon player Chen Yanbo and corporate representative Inventec to The group, American HYDY Water Bottle, and Nova Materials Technology (arranged in Chinese stroke order) jointly responded to the "Fight Climate Change for Children" action and announced the official launch of the "33rd Famine Thirty" series of activities, calling on all walks of life to take action to support immediate relief and create a sustainable future for children.

According to World Vision's November 2021 "Climate Change, Hunger and the Future of Children" report, the number of people facing hunger crises has continued to rise in the past five years, a phenomenon not seen in decades. The consequences of climate change are one of the reasons why humans do not have access to healthy food. If current trends continue, World Vision predicts that more than 300 million people will face food insecurity in 2030. The World Health Organization estimates that 80% of illnesses and deaths caused by climate change are children. The number of deaths related to climate change is expected to reach 250,000 per year by 2030, costing the global economy up to $4 billion per year. These fatal risks include natural disasters, heat waves, infectious diseases, air pollution and extreme malnutrition. Children are the most vulnerable group to the above risks.

World Vision has long been concerned about the impact of climate change on children, and supports the most vulnerable communities in mitigating the impact of climate change through three major services, including: 1. Emergency relief - providing food, drinking water, temporary shelter, nutritional treatment, basic medical services and psychological support to children and families affected by natural disasters as soon as possible. 2. Adaptation - train communities on climate change and disaster prevention and mitigation, while empowering communities to establish climate-smart livelihoods, stabilize family incomes, and protect the environment. 3. Mitigation - Promote school and community environmental greening, biomass energy or low-energy stoves and other services, while promoting the "farmer-managed natural regeneration method" to revive the community's native vegetation, starting from protecting trees and crop seeds, and then ensuring food production.

Ultra marathon runner Chen Yanbo said, “Through this World Vision’s call to ‘Fight Climate Change for Children’, I hope everyone can respond together and start saving energy and reducing carbon emissions through personal actions.”

Ultramarathon expert Chen Yanbo said, "In the race, I am not just running, but I also see the changes in the global environment on the front line. I have witnessed seals being killed and glaciers cracking. The changes in nature have greatly shocked me. Through this World Vision, I will fight for my children." Xiao Jin, a child from Yunlin who won the first prize for the climate change painting in the Central District of World Vision Taiwan, also told everyone through a video interview, "If we continue to destroy our living environment, such as littering PET bottles and creating a lot of garbage, a lot of carbon emissions will be burned to deal with the garbage and cause pollution. I hope everyone can take care of the earth and not destroy it. Let everyone, especially children around the world, live safely and happily on the earth."

Caring companies Inventec, HYDY and Nova also showed up to respond to the action. In addition to sharing their corporate actions in fighting climate change, they also jointly declared that they would support children and prevent the next generation from becoming climate refugees. Inventec, which strives for environmental protection and sustainability, has supported emergency relief work at home and abroad for the 10th consecutive year. HYDY, a brand centered on water resources and the environment, has supported the Outlook for five years in bringing clean water and sanitation to planned areas with urgent water needs. Nova Materials Technology, which attaches great importance to green corporate culture, has cooperated with the Outlook for the first time to jointly rescue vulnerable children affected by climate change.
