From industrial containers to illuminated booths, IBC can be fun in a different setting

The 2026 Taiwan Design Exhibition "Taoyuan Flow" will be held in Taoyuan from September 24 to October 11. NOVAX Materials Technology Co., Ltd. participated in the A6 "Sustainable Flow-Peach Project Future Recycling Park" and provided 42 second-hand materials free of charge. IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) allows containers that are originally familiar to industrial sites to enter the design exhibition hall and be seen in a different way.

IBC was originally a container used in the industry for transportation, storage and turnover, but in this exhibition, it has a different identity.

It is stacked, illuminated, and becomes a booth and display platform.

The IBCs that were originally working at the industrial site have become part of the space after the exhibition design. Through the combination of lighting and materials, the IBC’s translucent barrel emits soft light, carries the exhibits, and becomes the spatial element most easily noticed by visitors as they walk through it.

This exhibition area is designed by the Taiwan Design Institute and Üroborus Studiolab/Co-sequence Engineering. It takes Taoyuan's local industries, design innovation and recycling practices as the core, and presents material innovation, green processes and recycling technologies through the two main axes of "life cycle" and "industrial cycle".

What’s interesting about this collaboration for NOVAX is that it takes IBC out of its familiar industrial environment.

When an industrial container originally used for loading and storage can be turned into a booth, a display platform, or even a lighting device in the space after rearrangement and design; the material has not changed, what has changed is the way it is used.

Chairman of NOVAX said: "IBC is a very familiar industrial container to us. But this time we saw them enter the exhibition hall, be illuminated, and even become a platform for everyone to stay and watch the exhibits, which allowed us to re-see the possibility of different materials."

I have always believed that loops do not have to be complicated. Sometimes it just takes one more step to think about: Where is this thing going to go? Can it be used again? If you can, keep it valuable.

I think it is very interesting that IBC can enter the design exhibition from the industrial scene this time. It allows everyone to see that the so-called cycle can actually be very life-like, intuitive, and even fun!"

The exhibition also uses "Before → After" to present the different appearances of materials from their original state to their reuse. In another way, 42 IBCs actually demonstrated the transformation from "industrial container → exhibition element → reuse".

NOVAX continues to pay attention to the recycling application and resource reuse of industrial containers such as IBC, and also hopes that through more cross-industry cooperation, materials that originally only existed in industrial sites will have the opportunity to enter different fields and discover more unexpected possibilities.

Perhaps the first step in the cycle is not to make something different, but to reimagine how it can be used.
